Kamel Ben-Naceur
Kamel Ben-Naceur

former Director, Sustainability, Technology and Outlooks, International Energy Agency(IEA)

Kamel Ben Naceur joined the IEA on 7 September 2015 and is Director for Sustainability, Technology and Outlooks. He arrived from Schlumberger, where his positions included Senior Advisor and Vice President for technology, Chief Economist, and President of the technology operation in Rio de Janeiro. A national of both France and Tunisia, in 2014 he became Tunisia's Minister for Industry, Energy and Mines in a government tasked to lead the country's first fully democratic elections. During his tenure, he implemented new policies for energy subsidies rationalization, as well as having a law passed on renewable energy development. He is the co-author of 13 books and more than 120 articles. A French-Tunisian dual national, Mr. Ben Naceur is a graduate from Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole Normale Supérieure of France, with an Agrégation de Mathématiques. Kamel Ben Naceur is married with three children.

Dirk Forrister
Dirk Forrister

President and CEO, International Emissions Trading Association(IETA)

Dirk Forrister is President and CEO of the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA). Previously, he was Managing Director at Natsource LLC, the manager of one of the world’s largest carbon funds. Earlier in his career, Mr Forrister served as Chairman of the White House Climate Change Task Force in the Clinton Administration. Prior to that, he was Assistant US Secretary of Energy for Congressional, Public and Intergovernmental Affairs; and Legislative Counsel to Congressman Jim Cooper. He was also Energy Program Manager at Environmental Defense Fund. Mr Forrister also now serves on the Board of Directors of the Verified Carbon Standard and as a member of the Advisory Boards of the National Center for Atmospheric Research and the American Carbon Registry.

Nick Nuttall
Nick Nuttall

Director, Communications and Outreach, UN Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCCC)

Before joining the United Nations, he was the Environment and Technology correspondent at The Times from 1989, having worked for various newspapers and magazines including The Daily Telegraph, The Independent the Evening Standard and London Evening News, Woman and Cosmopolitan. Nuttall was known at The Times for some of the more exotic front page stories and is thought to be the only journalist in the UK to have a story about a former hairdresser from Hartlepool who had invented a heat shield or coating for the US space shuttle based on doing perms in his salon—printed on 1 April with the Editor's caveat 'This is not an April Fool.'
Nuttall has won various awards including one of the inaugural BT technology journalist of the year awards for a feature in The Times on Teledildonics and The Tidy Britain Group's Queen Mother's Birthday Awards.

Nuttall joined the United Nations Environment Programme in 2001, He was, until December 2013, the spokesperson, principal speechwriter and creative writer for UN Under-Secretary General and UNEP Executive Director, Achim Steiner. Nuttall joined UNEP in 2001 working for former UNEP Executive Director and former German Minister of the Environment, Klaus Töpfer and is credited with collaborating with Töpfer to develop the UNEP theme "Environment for Development" in order to re-position UNEP in the early 21st century.
During his time at UNEP, Nuttall was responsible for transforming the organization's media profile and, in collaboration with its Executive Director, inspiring several landmark reports including the 2009 Climate Change Science Compendium; the Natural Fix The Role of Ecosystems in Climate Mitigation and the Dead Planet, Living Planet: Biodiversity and Ecosystem Restoration for Sustainable Development. He also spearheaded the communications aimed at popularizing the concepts and ideas behind UNEP's Global Green New Deal/Green Economy Initiative.

In January 2014, he joined UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. He is responsible for supporting the press and communications of Executive Secretary Patricia Espinosa and across the Framework Convention’s operations. He is supporting UNFCCC and governments in securing a new universal climate agreement at the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris.

Thomas C. Heller
Thomas C. Heller

Founder and Chairman of the Board and Senior Strategic Advisor, Climate Policy Initiative(CPI)

As Chairman of the Board and Senior Strategic Advisor, Thomas C. Heller plays a critical role in all of CPI’s work programs, advising global leaders, and directing strategy and analysis. Heller founded CPI, and served as Executive Director from CPI’s start in 2009 until 2016. Under his direction, CPI has grown into a trusted global thought leader in climate finance, energy finance, and land use. In climate finance, CPI has set the benchmark for tracking, as well as built and directed The Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance. In energy finance, CPI works with governments, businesses, investors, and foundations around the world to maximize the financial benefits of transitioning to a low-carbon energy system. CPI has also pioneered a production and protection strategy to land use management of carbon rich areas, which seeks opportunities to improve agricultural productivity while also protecting vital carbon stocks.

Heller regularly speaks at high-profile events, and has been a regular guest of the World Affairs Council, the Clinton Global Initiative, high-level COP side-events, the World Economic Forum, among others.
Before founding CPI, Heller was a professor at Stanford University for thirty years, serving as the Shelton Professor of International Legal Studies, Senior Fellow at the Stanford Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies, and Senior Fellow at the Woods Institute for the Environment. An expert in law, economic development, and the performance of legal institutions, Professor Heller has focused his research on the rule of law, international climate control, global energy use, and the interaction of government and nongovernmental organizations in establishing legal structures in the developing world.

Since 1991, Heller has been increasingly engaged in research and applied policy studies in energy and climate, with a principal concern regarding developments in China, India, Mexico, Brazil, and other leading emerging markets. He was a contributing lead author for the IPCC on the Third and Fourth Assessment Reports, as well as a contributor to the Special Reports on Technology Transfer and Emissions Scenarios. In 2008, Heller became a core team member directing Project Catalyst – an analysis-based project in support of the Copenhagen Climate process. Since March 2010, Professor Heller has also acted as the Vice-Chair of the Governing Board of the Global Green Growth Institute, with headquarters in Seoul, Korea. Professor Heller has a B.A. from Princeton University and an L.L.B. from Yale Law School.

Mahua Acharya
Mahua Acharya

Assistant Director-General and Head of Investment and Policy Solutions, Global Green Growth Institute(GGGI)

Mahua Acharya is Assistant Director-General and Head of GGGI’s Investment and Policy Solutions Division. In this capacity, Ms. Acharya drives GGGI’s Green Investment Advisory Services to support GGGI member countries develop and seek financing for green investment projects, conceptualize knowledge products that build a strong theoretical and empirical base for green growth, build capacity for green growth implementation, and facilitate South-South cooperation.

Prior to joining GGGI, Ms. Acharya was Managing Director at C-Quest Capital LLC, a carbon finance business specializing in carbon credits to bring investment capital to social welfare projects in developing countries. Ms. Acharya managed the company’s investments in India, relationships with the Government of India and investors, and the development of new bankable projects in Nepal, Bangladesh and Myanmar. Her team also oversaw the management of operations for C-Quest’s projects in Nigeria, Zambia, and Malawi.

Prior to her work at C-Quest, Ms. Acharya held numerous positions in the field of green investments and finance in both international organizations, such as the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and the World Bank, as well as in the private sector, such as at Arcelor Mittal and Emergent Ventures India.”

Mahua Acharya
Sir Philip Lowe

Executive Chair of the World Energy Council’s Energy Trilemma flagship study.

Philip Lowe was born in Leeds in 1947. He read Politics, Philosophy and Economics at St John’s College, Oxford and has an M.Sc. from London Business School. Following a period in manufacturing industry, he joined the European Commission in 1973, and held a range of senior posts as Chef de Cabinet and Director in the fields of regional development, agriculture, transport and administration, before becoming Director-General of the Development DG in 1997. From September 2002 he was Director-General of the Competition DG until he became Director-General of the Energy DG in February 2010. He retired from the European Commission from 1st January 2014. From 2013 to 2016, he was a non-executive director of the UK Competition and Markets Authority and since 2016, Executive Chair of the World Energy Council’s Energy Trilemma Flagship Study Programme.

From 2010, he has been Chair of the Florence University Institute Competition Law Workshop. He is also a senior adviser to FTI Consulting. Philip Lowe was knighted KCMG in 2014.

Mahua Acharya
Rob Fowler

Head of Certification, Climate Bonds Initiative(CBI)

Rob is part of the advisory team within CBI and has played a major role in the development of Version 2.0 of the Climate Bond Standards. His role is to work with issuers, verifiers, intermediaries and regulators to accelerate the take-up of the Climate Bonds Certification Scheme and the issuance of certified climate bonds.
Rob has over twelve years of experience in low-carbon and green investment, and a heritage of top-tier strategy consulting and finance with LEK Consulting, Booz & Company and his own firm. His clients have included major corporations, international banks, the UNFCCC, national and provincial governments, service providers, industry associations and non-profit organisations.
Rob is based in Australia, and during his professional career he has lived and worked in Melbourne, Sydney, Shanghai, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Boston, Bangkok, East Kalimantan and country Victoria.

Sung-Woo Kim
Dr. Sung-Woo Kim

Head of the Climate Change & Sustainability Department Samjong KPMG and IETA Board member

Sungwoo Kim has a master in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Duke University in US, and PhD in Business Administration from Seoul School of Integrated Science and Technology(aSSIST) in Korea. For last 23 years, he developed his career in business development and investment at POSCO(World Top 5 Steel Maker) and now he is a regional head of Climate Change and Sustainability of KPMG Asia Pacific to lead 12 countries and direct projects of investment/strategy/policy such as regulation framework, compliance strategy, investment advisory, corporate strategy, and social responsibility consulting.

Also, based on the comprehensive experience from engineering to financing as well as from theory to execution in this field, he was a focal member of advisory board of Asia Clean Energy Fund, a member of external advisory group for World Bank, a member of Private Sector Advisory Committee of GGGI, and a vice chairman of Korea ∙ Mongolia Economics & Business Association, and now is a Board member of International Emission Trading Association(IETA), an external technical expert for GCF, a member of expert committee for the President of KOICA and a high level advisor for the Korean Governments. With frequent publications, media exposure, speech & panel at major global conferences such as B4E(Business for Environment), Carbon Expo, Carbon Finance, Asia Clean Energy Forum as a prominent Asian speaker, he teaches in executive MBA as an adjunct professor of Seoul National University and Inha University in business administration.

Duck-Soo Han
Dr. Duck-Soo Han

Chairman of the Climate Change Center, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea

Former Prime Minister Han has undertaken several key posts at the Korean Government including Deputy Prime Minister of Economic Affairs, Senior Secretary of Economic Affairs at the Presidential Office as well as Trade Minister. He also served diplomatic posts including Ambassador to the OECD and the United States. He has been a strong promoter of free trade and served as chairman of the Korea International Trade Association. He is a graduate of Seoul National University and Ph.D. of Economics from Harvard University.

Hwan-Eik Cho
Dr. Hwan-Eik Cho

Dr. Cho has worked for several public sector companies including President of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency(KOTRA) and Korea Trade Insurance Corporation(K Sure). He has worked as Chairman of Organizing Committee of 2013 Daegu World Energy Congress and currently working as Chairman of East Asian Electric Power Supply Industry(CEPS) in West Pacific region, Korea Electric Association(KEA) as well as Korea Atomic Industrial Forum(KAIF).
He has served for the Korean government’s Ministry of Industry and Trade with several key posts of Deputy Minister and Assistant Minister of Trade Promotion.

Nam-Hoon Kang
Dr. Nam-Hoon Kang

Graduate from Seoul National University with BA in Economics and Ph.D. in Economics from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor of the United States.
Dr. Kang has worked as Senior Economist at the OECD in Paris and Director for Industrial Policy at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Energy(MOTIE), Spokesman, Director General for Energy Resources Development and Nuclear Power Policy as well as Director General for Climate Change, Energy and Resources Policy.
He also worked at the Blue House(Presidential Office) as Senior Secretary for Knowledge Economy and President & CEO of Korea Industrial Complex Corporation(KICOX).

Dr. Joo-Hun Park

President, Korea Energy Economics Institute(KEEI)

Graduate from Yonsei Univerisity with B.A. and M.A. in Economics and Ph.D. in Economics as well from Wisconsin University. He has been working as senior research fellow of the KEEI and Professor of Dongduck Women’s University.
Dr. Park is working as member of the Energy Committee under the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Energy and civilian member of the mid-and long term strategy committee of the Ministry of Planning and Finance. He has been in charge of nuclear power sector when preparing for the Energy Roadmap of the Korean government and advisor of electricity supply-demand plan(energy mix). He also worked a chairperson of the Board of Korea National Oil Corporation(KNOC).

Hyungna Oh

After graduated from Korea University with B.A. and M.A. in Economics and Cornell University with Ph.D. in Regional Economics, Dr. Oh has been teaching at Applied Economics and Management at Cornell University as well as West Virginia University. She also has worked as Research Fellow of the Korea Development Institute(KDI) before joining the faculty members of Kyung Hee University in 2013.

Bok-Seung Yang

Graduate from Kyung Hee University with B.A. in Economics, MBA from Korea University Business School and the U.S.’s University of Michigan with Global MBA. Since joining Korea Development Bank in 1991 Mr Yang has worked for several key posts including Management Strategy Department, London Branch, Project Finance Department on Energy and Resources, International Business Department, and the current Treasury Department as well.

Hong-Hee Shin

As the main operator of Korea’s stock markets and derivatives market, Korea Exchange (KRX) offers trading & clearing services for diverse financial instruments including equities (over USD 1 trillion market value), ETFs, bonds, futures and options (eng.krx.co.kr).

Since joining the Exchange in 1989, Mr. Shin has been taking number of important positions in developing and internationalizing Korea’s capital market and has delivered successful outcomes throughout his 20+ year career.
Currently as an executive director, Mr. Shin is responsible for overall clearing & risk management services of Korean capital market that covers daily average transaction value of approximately USD 7 billion in equities, USD 35 billion in futures & options products, and USD 11 billion in fixed-income products
