Climate Energy Summit Seoul 2024

OVERVIEW

The Zero-Energy buildings and Green Remodeling market is undergoing rapid expansion, contributing significantly to the global transition toward carbon neutrality. Major countries are implementing diverse policies and support mechanisms to bolster energy efficiency and advance green architecture on an international scale. The Zero-Energy building market is currently valued at approximately 15 to 20 trillion won as of 2022, with projections indicating a potential growth to 93 to 107 trillion won by 2030 if the roadmap for mandatory certification is fully executed.

Internationally, various financial support mechanisms are driving energy-efficient Green Buildings, with ongoing discussions in the US on regional energy transitions and low-carbon strategies. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is actively strengthening its construction sector for Carbon Neutrality. In Korea, policies aligned with Article 31 of the Carbon Neutrality Basic Act promote energy efficiency and Green Buildings. However, recent findings from the initial Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth Implementation Inspection reveal a 3% increase in greenhouse gas emissions from the building sector in 2022 compared to 2021, despite an overall decrease in total emissions. This underscores the challenges in improving energy efficiency and green remodeling within the domestic building sector.

At CESS 2024, we will delve into market trends for smart green architecture and the integration of building Environment and Technology. Discussions will cover achieving Carbon Neutrality through Zero-Energy building and green remodeling, addressing societal and economic challenges, and proposing solutions. This event provides a valuable platform for collaboration among experts in green architecture, government officials, industry leaders, academia, and civil society to drive global green architectural innovation and sustainable development towards net zero.
